On March 6, 1836 the last of the 187 defenders of the Alamo fell to santa anna's mexican horde. The seige of the Alamo lasted 13 days. The defenders included such famous frontiersman as Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett.

The Texans got their revenge for the Alamo on April 21, 1836 when General Sam Houston and the Texas Army caught up with santa anna at San Jacinto and kicked the crap out of them. Killing 700 mexicans and capturing another 730. santa anna was one of those captured. At this point santa anna offered to trade Texas for his life, General Houston accepted his offer.
