Review
Okay so I finally broke down and got the Maybelline Natural Smokes Quad. Longs/CVS is having a 40% off sale on all Maybelline products this week. When it comes to eyeshadow I'm a bit of a texture snob. I need that smooth, buttery, easily blendable texture. Therefore I usually prefer high end eyeshadow over drugstore.

With that being said...
Pros: This is a good quality eyeshadow quad. You get two shimmer and two matte shades. The eyeshadows are highly pigmented, the colors blend together well and are not chalky. You can create a subtle daytime look or dramatic nighttime look using just this quad. It's very affordable and great for on the go. Most impressive color for me was the dark brown Outer Corner shade, it is MAC quality and my ideal shade of dark brown.

Cons: The Lid color has a lot of glitter fallout which ended up all over my cheeks, pores and upper lip. The glitter fallout was difficult to remove. Texture is not as buttery as I would like, but for only $4 it wasn't bad. Packaging is cheap.

The verdict: Maybelline Natural Smokes is one of the better drugstore eyeshadow quads out there. I recommend checking it out.

Will I repurchase? I will enjoy this quad but probably won't repurchase due to the annoying glitter fallout.

Products I Regret Buying: Mascara

Okay so it can't be product raves and glowing reviews all of the time, right? Let's face it, sometimes we end up with a product that just doesn't live up to our expectations. Maybe slick advertising suckered us in or we just wanted to test out a new product. Whatever the case, I feel that "Products I Regret Buying" reviews are just as important as product raves.

So let's begin with 3 mascaras that I sincerely regret buying. (Please keep in mind mascara is personal, although these didn't work for me, they may still work great for you :)

Rimmel Sexy Curves: I know the Pixiwoos like this one, but it's not for me. I don't like how the formula leaves my lashes stiff and crispy. I also dislike the wavy shape of the brush, it doesn't give me the most desirable  application.

Maybelline The Falsies: At first I thought it was decent, nothing spectacular but not bad. It gave me length but I can't stand the brush. The odd spoon shape is a pain to deal with, especially when I'm in a hurry in the morning. I don't want to spend time making sure I'm holding it in just the right position. The formula might be fine but Maybelline should have done a regular straight brush, instead of trying to get fancy.

Last and certainly the worst mascara I've EVER purchased, Drum roll please....

NYX Doll Eye Mascara: I don't know if I just got a bad one or what but this is the absolute worst mascara I've ever tried! Not only is the formula is dry and clumpy but it has "lengthening" fibers that flake off into my eye! The brush is also terrible. It has very short bristles that taper in the center. The short bristles are so gunked up with dry clumpy product, you almost can't get it off the brush and onto your lashes.

Well there you have it, 3 mascaras I regret buying.

Do you have a mascara you regret buying? Let me know.

Thanks for hanging out with me!
Xoxo,
Christine

OOTD: My Relaxed Everyday Style

Although I love to see other peoples style and OOTD's, I usually never think of doing an outfit of the day post myself... because really I'm quite boring. I live in Hawaii and it's hot year round, we don't get too fancy with our fashion on Maui, it's all about keeping cool and comfortable. But just for fun I will try doing an OOTD for you.

Please excuse my dirty mirrors, I'll try to remember to clean them before photographing!

Shorts: Fragile Blue Jeans brand from Sears
Top: Cotton Tank Top from Forever 21
Belt: Brown/Leather by Hurley

Shoes: 3" Leopard Print/Cork Wedges by Onex
Nail Polish: MAC Earthly Harmony (Love this Polish!)

Messy Hair
Twisted and clipped up with a Jaw clip.

Jewelry: I'm wearing 2 Sterling Silver Box Chain Necklaces, both pendants are Aztec Calenders.

If you're bored with OOTD's I understand... or if you would like to see more OOTD's from me let me know.

Thanks for hanging out with me!

I highly recommend MAC Burning Ambition/Illusionary Mineralize Eyeshadow Duo. The pigmentation and texture is excellent. Since MAC has been switching out their mineralize eyeshadows this duo may not be available at every store or counter. I just recently purchased mine at my counter, they'd been out of stock for a couple of months. If you can find it, give it a try!
